What to Expect as an Oilfield Trucker

A career in oilfield trucking is exactly what you make of it. Salaries in this field are consistently high, and we regularly help new drivers secure positions making over $70,000 annually. Oilfield trucking, like any OTR job, can be intense for some individuals, but can be beneficial for those who don’t want to work a standard 9-5 schedule, enjoy the freedom of the open road, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

Mapping Out Your Career

WYDTA offers more than just training opportunities. Once you’ve earned your CDL A or B, and any relevant endorsements, we’ll offer job placement assistance, too. There are dozens of job opportunities to choose from in the oilfield industry.

Many new drivers start out as water haulers or frac sand haulers, especially if they don’t have their H, N, or X endorsements. Once you earn these endorsements, you can move up to hauling crude oil and condensate, operating specialized vacuum trucks, or a position more technical, like operating a kill truck or high-pressure pump truck.

Once you have more experience under your belt, you have a better chance of securing a position at a major energy company, like Halliburton, or going the owner-operator route.

Regardless of what type of position you’re interested in, WYDTA is here to help you succeed.
